Off WordPress and onto a fast static site

Website rebuildStatic siteHosting migration

A brochure site weighed down by years of out-of-date plugins, rebuilt as a lean static site with no database to attack and nothing to patch.

The brief

The venue’s website was built in WordPress years ago and hosted on SiteGround. It’s a brochure site: enquiries go straight to phone, email or Facebook, so it doesn’t need bookings or a shop. What it had instead was a pile of obsolete plugins slowing it down and needing constant updates.

What I’m doing

Rebuilding it as a static site and moving it to modern hosting. Every page is built ahead of time, so it loads fast, there’s no admin login to break into, and there’s no plugin list to keep patched. Old hosting gets retired once the new site is live.

Where it’s at

The rebuild is under way. A simple editor can be added later if the venue wants to update content themselves.
